1. Scope and Product Description

This documentation covers high-performance metal jewellery precision-machined by GETi Ltd. in the United Kingdom. These products are intended for permanent or long-term skin contact as decorative finger rings.

1.1 Materials Covered

  • High-Purity Titanium: Grade 2 (Commercially Pure) and Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V).

  • Black Zirconium: Zirconium (Zr 702) with a thermally induced Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2​) surface layer.


2. Material Specifications & Composition

2.1 Titanium Properties

  • Grades: Compliant with ASTM B348 (Grade 2) and ISO 5832-3 (Grade 5).

  • Biocompatibility: Bio-inert; forms a natural TiO2​ passive layer that prevents allergic reactions.

  • Nickel Content: 0% (Nickel-Free).

2.2 Zirconium Properties

  • Base Material: Zirconium (Zr) 702.

  • Oxidation Process: The material is heated to temperatures exceeding 500°C, causing a chemical reaction that transforms the surface into Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2​).

  • Surface Hardness: The resulting black layer is extremely hard (approx. 1200 on the Vickers scale), offering superior scratch resistance.

  • Nickel Content: 0% (Nickel-Free).


3. Manufacturing & Quality Control

  1. Sourcing: Raw material is sourced from certified suppliers with mill certificates confirming chemical purity.

  2. CNC Machining: Rings are turned from solid bar stock. No casting is used, ensuring zero porosity and high structural integrity.

  3. Surface Finishing: * Titanium: Mechanical polishing to a mirror or satin finish.

    • Zirconium: Precisely controlled thermal oxidation to ensure a uniform, non-porous black coating that is chemically bonded to the core.

  4. Cleaning: All items undergo multi-stage ultrasonic cleaning to remove manufacturing lubricants.


4. Safety & Compliance Analysis

4.1 Chemical Safety (REACH Compliance)

  • Nickel Release (EN 1811:2023): Both materials are elemental and do not contain nickel. Migration testing is not required as the base materials are intrinsically compliant.

  • Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC): Products do not contain any substances listed on the UK REACH Candidate List in concentrations above 0.1% weight by weight.

4.2 Mechanical & Structural Safety

  • Edge Comfort: All internal "comfort fit" profiles are machined with a radius to eliminate pressure points or skin abrasion.

  • Emergency Removal: * Titanium: Can be cut with high-speed steel (HSS) or tungsten carbide cutters.

    • Black Zirconium: Can be cut using heavy-duty manual ring cutters or bolt cutters. Note: Unlike Tungsten, these materials will not shatter under pressure.

We hereby declare that the manufacturing processes and materials used for GETi Titanium and Black Zirconium jewellery meet the requirements for safety and material integrity under the laws of England and Wales.
